History of the Rawlings RBG36

Although I cannot find any official data, it is believed that the the Rawlings RBG36 model glove was the best selling glove of the 1900s and possibly is the best selling glove model of all time.

Rawlings started selling the RBG36 model in 1980, with a Reggie Jackson endorsement on the palm. At some point the "Dale Murphy" RBG36 from Rawlings was the best selling version of the glove.  However, it is rumored that sometime in the late 90s, the Ken Griffey Jr, model took the title of best selling RBG36.  Since then I have worked on, or can find, examples of the following endorsements on RBG36 model gloves:

  • Reggie Jackson
  • Dave Winfield
  • Dave Parker
  • Dale Murphy
  • Cal Ripken Jr
  • Ken Griffey Jr
  • Nolan Ryan
  • Andre Dawson
  • Jose Canseco
  • Tony Gwynn
  • Derek Jeter
  • Unendorsed Models

I believe that is a comprehensive list of all the RBG36 player endorsements.  But, if you find any that I am missing, please let me know!

Here are links to some of my RBG36 revival videos:
